Review: The Beauty of Darkness

Title: The Beauty of Darkness (The Remnant Chronicles #3)

Author: Mary E. Pearson

Date of Publication: August 2nd, 2016

Beauty of Darkness

Goodreads Summary:

Lia and Rafe have escaped Venda and the path before them is winding and dangerous – what will happen now? This third and final book in The Remnant Chronicles is not to be missed.

Bestselling author Mary E. Pearson’s combination of intrigue, suspense, romance and action make this a riveting page turner for teens.

My Review:

This book picks up right where book two left off. Lia is fighting for her life after being shot by two arrows and then falling in the icy water. Rafe is still with her and trying to get her help, and his men are finally able to find them. The Komizar is believed to be dead, but is he really?

This book oh this book I am still so emotional after reading it. All 679 pages of it. It was a slow and lovely burn, and now I do not know what to do with myself. There wasn’t as much romance in it, but the parts that were were so perfect.  I loved Rafe and Lia even though I believe they will always have this stubborn but perfect relationship, but that is what makes them work.

Caden was back, and I loved reading his POV and learning even more about him, and to me I never saw him and Lia as needing a romantic relationship. They are better as friends and having each other’s backs.

Rafe did frustrate me a lot because I just wanted him to leave his kingdom and go to Lia! I understand that is not how things always work.  Lia becomes a stronger character in each one of these books, and I really was proud of who she has become.

There is a lot of heartbreak in this book because as in all these types of books someone has to die.  The action especially towards the end was spot on, and the betrayal throughout was intriguing to see played out.

I just loved all the side characters along with the main characters, and I am just so sad to let them go. I really want an epilogue!!!
