Review: The Bone Witch

Title: The Bone Witch

Author: Rin Chupeco

Date of Publication: March 7th, 2017

The bone witch

Goodreads Summary:

When Tea accidentally resurrects her brother from the dead, she learns she is different from the other witches in her family. Her gift for necromancy means that she’s a bone witch, a title that makes her feared and ostracized by her community. But Tea finds solace and guidance with an older, wiser bone witch, who takes Tea and her brother to another land for training.

In her new home, Tea puts all her energy into becoming an asha — one who can wield elemental magic. But dark forces are approaching quickly, and in the face of danger, Tea will have to overcome her obstacles…and make a powerful choice.

My Review:

I normally don’t review books that I don’t finish, but here I am. I was so happy when I was approved to read this book, but I just could not get into it. I am not sure even what I was reading. I like description but too much can be overwhelming and that was what was going on here.

The main character Tea is supposed to be I believe 14, but everything about her seemed so much older which is fine to be mature, but she seemed way older than any 14 year old that I would know. Apparently it is also a retelling of Memoirs of a Geisha which I have not read, so if you like that you may like this as well.

For me it was just too boring and to be honest I have already forgotten most of what I read and when that happens it just does not work for me, but this book may work for you.  On a side note every time I read the name Tea all I could think about was the drink! Maybe I should go brew me some right now.

  1. NOOOOO!! I really wanted to read this book as well… 🙁 I’m sorry you couldn’t get into it it… I might just get it from the library then instead of buying it – just in case I don’t like it as well xD

    Thank you for your review
