Author Interview:

What made you want to become a writer?
I’ve always loved writing, ever since I was a little kid. I have always wanted to see my name on bookshelves though. I wanted to be able to walk in a bookstore and sneakily sign a couple of my books.

What gave you the idea for your book Blackout?
Honestly? No offense to Ohio but I was driving through Ohio one day, thinking about how it was nothing but endless fields of corn and sorrows and it gave me the idea. So, Blackout is set in Ohio and the idea just kind of grew from there!

What gave you the idea for Entertainment 100?
Entertainment 100 is a compilation of reviews and articles from my blog. I had people that wanted a print version, so I gave them that choice.

What gave you the idea for American Holdovers?
American Holdovers is my baby. It chronicles my time and my friends time spent at Ft. Jackson as holdovers for the US Army. It’s a very personal book to all of us and the only one of its kind.

Do you use an outline when you write or just write?
I use an incredibly in depth and extensive outline actually. Otherwise I get sidetracked.

What book are you currently reading?
I’m a huge Game of Thrones fan so I’m going to give the book series another shot.

If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you want with you?
A life straw, a fishing pole, and a boat… Is that cheating?

What do you find most challenging about being an author?
Crawling out of the pile of girls that are always throwing themselves at authors… Either that or the fact that my mind is constantly thinking of what I’m writing, no matter what else I am trying to focus on at the time.

What is your favorite color?

What is your next project?
A more light-hearted buddy book. It’s very rough so that is all I can say right now.
