Review: The Demon in the Wood

Title: The Demon in the Wood

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Date of Publication: June 17th, 2014

Goodreads Summary:
Before he became the Darkling, he was just a lonely boy of extraordinary power. Get a look into the past that forged a brutal and brilliant leader.

My Review:

So of course I love all the Grisha books from Bardugo. But, the one thing I have never understood is why so many people are obsessed with the Darkling. He’s a cool character with interesting magic and all, but he’s seriously not that awesome. I mean, Nikolai is, and will always be my number one from that series. And the sky has answered my prayers since he will be getting his own book soon.

I was hoping from this prequel, I would maybe become more of a Darkling fan. Unfortunately, I did not. However, he is still a great character, and Bardugo’s writing is fantastic as usual. I did like seeing a little thirteen year old Darkling and his crazy mother. This was a great read for anyone who loves the series and wants to see a little glimpse of the past.
