IMDB Summary: A group of teens face their fears in order to save their lives.
As a child, I was a huge fan of the Scary Stories trilogy! The tales are dark and sometimes super twisted, and of course, the artwork is amazing! Anyway, I was super excited when I found out there was going to be a movie based off of these books!
Enter Guillermo del Toro and André Øvredal—this made me ecstatic. Even if I was disappointed with the film, I knew the creatures would look amazing, and they did! As for the film, it was actually not as “kiddy” as I thought it was going to be. It was a bit darker and grittier with maybe a little bit of Final Destination mixed in with The Ring. Plus, I always enjoy like the whole death is-coming-because-of-a-book thing. Kind of like the Evil Dead and the Mummy.
Anyway, if you liked the Scary Stories books, I recommend seeing it, but don’t go in thinking it will be exact just like the Goosebumps movie wasn’t precise. If you haven’t read them, then check it out anyway. Also, I loved the group dynamic and each of the teen’s personalities! And I really, really, really hope they make a sequel!
