Reading… Writing… Depression… Anxiety…

My whole life has been a battle with myself. You are your own personal best friend because no one can get as deep inside your brain as you can. People may relate to you, but they can never truly know how you feel.

First, as many may or may not know I suffer from migraines that alone affects my reading that is my one true escape. When I know that pulsating drum beat is beginning to take shape, I want my brain to ultimately be crushed so it ends already. That triggers the depression, but when it stops I am like why did I ever feel that way?

The back and forth pull in both directions is never ending. I began writing as a way of escape the headaches and my dad passing away. Over the past year, writing has helped tremendously, but then you get to the people that tear apart everything you have built which is all part of the process when you want to succeed. So, I battle again with myself. Do I stop? Do I go on? Am I good enough? Am I that terrible? It’s trash! I’m trash! Screw these people it’s awesome! I’m awesome! Am I?

Anxiety is another issue that I have had since maybe around seventh grade. I can’t talk to people in person most of the time unless I have known them a long time. It’s all just a mix of awkwardness, and I may come across as rude, but that’s not it at all. If I am in a middle of a crowd anywhere, it’s like shakiness sets in and I’m in a bubble with a loud echo where all the sounds blend together. I just want to scream at the top of my lungs and run out of the room. Since I self published this feeling has only intensified, so I try so hard to rope it back in.

I’ve been a grown adult for a very long time now, and when I feel these type of emotions it’s overwhelming. Since I’m a mother, I try to keep it all inside and level it out piece by piece. I have to put on a happy face and pretend everything is okay when sometimes it just isn’t. The days that are good are really good, and the days that are bad are the end of everything. This post may be a bunch of crap thrown together, but anyone who suffers from something that affects their daily life, just know you aren’t alone.

My London Trip!

Our 2017 summer vacation this year was London, England. I was pretty excited!

First stop was Stonehenge!

Second stop was Legoland. This was for my daughter. I absolutely hate pretty much all theme parks. I hate standing in lines because all it does is make me feel claustrophobic. Needles to say… she loved it! I did, however, love the miniature version of the city that was build entirely out of legos! Amazing!

Drove around the city some!

Next stop was Bodiam Castle which was my favorite! This castle had me at moat. I also need that barn owl!

The British Library is A+. I scored my one and only souvenir because hey it’s Mr. Darcy. I am not a big souvenir fan at all!

Next stop was to check out the actual Harry Potter film set. Again for my daughter, but it was freaking great!

Overall, minus the traffic, it was thoroughly awesome! I am already ready for our next family vacation next year!

Kickstarter: Princess Allee and Smile, Chewie by: Savy Leiser

About The Furever Home Friends:

The Furever Home Friends are all dogs who have lived in a shelter at some point in their lives, and have either found, or are still looking, for their forever home.

Through this collection of books and toys, our mission is to raise awareness about the importance of adopting animals from shelters, and to share the stories of animals who have gone through the shelter system. Our books teach children about a variety of social issues–including adoption, animal abuse, body image, disabilities, racism, sexism, and much more–through a dog’s perspective. Our stuffed animals are here to create lifelong friends for dog-loving kids everywhere.

The Books and Stuffed Animals:

Each book is an 8×8 full-color picture book. At the end of each book is a set of questions for kids, their parents, and even their dogs to discuss together, all about the book’s themes and messages. Each book also includes a page at the end about the real dog the story is based on.

Princess Allee

While living at the shelter, Allee dreams of being a princess. When a stylish young woman comes to adopt her, Allee thinks her dream is about to come true! But Allee soon learns that her new suburban life doesn’t include castles or crowns. It includes two dog brothers that she has to learn to get along with! Can Allee learn to feel like royalty even while living the average life?

Allee’s stuffed animal comes with her signature sparkly pink collar.

Smile, Chewie!

Despite Chewie’s friendly personality, he’s too shy to let the shelter volunteers take his picture! See, Chewie is stuck with scars on his face due to the abuse he suffered as a puppy, from a man who was prejudiced against pit bulls. Can Chewie find the confidence he needs to stand up to these awful pit bull stereotypes, and smile for the camera?

Every stuffed animal is approximately 12″ tall, made from huggable flannel and polyester fluff, and hand-made with love. Each animal comes with a personalized adoption certificate!

This Kickstarter campaign will raise the necessary funds to produce and launch the first two books and stuffed animals in the series. As the business grows, we will introduce new dog characters to the collection.

Help Savy get these awesome books out in the world because every kid should have access to these books!

Savy Leiser sent me both of the manuscripts to read, and I think they are what every child needs. I loved them. They are kid friendly, but they still show the real life aspect of how not every animal’s life starts out perfect.

April Reads 2017

This month I have a lot going on since I am going to be releasing a book in May, and am editing another book that I will be releasing this summer. So, my only for sure read at the moment is A Gathering of Shadows by: V.E. Schwab. I loved the first book! I know I am late to the game in this series. I know I will have other ARCs to read, but I am going to be a little more picky this month.

Writing a book is hard enough. Everyone that told me writing a book was the easy part is crazy! The stuff that comes after writing a book is even more stressful, but in the end it is all worth it! Thanks for your support!
