Review: A Court of Mist and Fury

Title: A Court of Mist and Fury

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Date of Publication: May 3, 2016

First off I hate having to wait for books, so after reading A Court of Thorns and Roses I didn’t know what to do with myself… So a year goes by… Waiting… and Waiting… and then my book finally arrives!  Not to mention the mail man was late with my book, but then I put the precious thing in my hands and fist pump to the clouds.

If you don’t already know what this is about which you should…

The stunning sequel to Sarah J. Maas’ New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Goodreads Summary:

Feyre survived Amarantha’s clutches to return to the Spring Court–but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can’t forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin’s people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms–and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future–and the future of a world cleaved in two.

So I first and foremost am not a big fan of love triangles unless they are done right.  After reading book one I just knew that Rhysand would most likely be a love interest, and I was set on not going to have it because I liked Tamlin so much, but Sarah J. Maas has officially changed my mind.

Feyre I feel like is an incredibly strong character, and I may not always agree with her but when she loves someone she fights from the depths of her heart for them.  In the beginning she is at home with Tamlin after the showdown with Amarantha, and we find out that they are engaged and getting ready to get married.

I didn’t realize what a control freak Tamlin really was, and I get it okay!  After all you guys have been through I. Get. It. But let the girl do stuff on her own!

Anyways Rhysand comes into save the day on the day of their wedding, and I was like oh no here we go…

But dang it Rhys has become one of my ultimate book boyfriendss and made me feel like dancing.

This book had so much magic, and some of the fae fly.  Can I have my own wings now too?

We got to see a little more of Feyre’s sisters in this one. Nesta was still as feisty as ever, and I liked it.

Now for all the romance haters this book wasn’t just that it had action and amazing new side characters (Lucien please don’t become all creepy after what occurred with you), and yes there is a cliffhanger, butttttttt…. it isn’t one of catastrophe but still has me yearning and craving the next book.

What do you guys think about love triangles?  What other fae type books or fantasy books do you recommend?
