Goodreads Summary:

Once, Ana was an orphaned space outlaw. Then she was the Empress of the Iron Kingdom. Now, thought dead by most of the galaxy after she escaped from the dark AI program called the HIVE, Ana is desperate for a way to save Di from the HIVE’s evil clutches and take back her kingdom.

Ana’s only option is to find Starbright, the one person who has hacked into the HIVE and lived to tell the tale. But when Ana’s desperation costs the crew of the Dossier a terrible price, Ana and her friends are sent spiraling through the most perilous reaches of the Iron Kingdom to stop the true arbiter of evil in her world: an ancient world-ending deity called the Great Dark.

Their journey will take the sharp-witted pilot, Jax, to the home he never wanted to return to, and the dangerous fate he left behind. And when Robb finds out who Jax really is, he must contend with his own feelings for the boy he barely knows, and whether he truly belongs with this group of outcasts.

When facing the worst odds, can Ana and her crew of misfits find a way to stop the Great Dark once and for all?

My Review:

Heart of Iron was one of my favorite books of last year and I was so incredibly excited for this one! Plus, come on, Anastasia retelling in space is totally awesome!

First, the awesome! Jax and Robb! Man, oh man, I love these two gents so much! They are the perfect power couple, seriously! Also, the world building in these books is freaking great! Especially when it’s hard for me to get into sci-fi most of the time!

I think my main issue was Anna. I love her, but I feel like this story wasn’t really hers at all. I mean, I know there are four POVs, but I just felt like her story line and relationship with a certain other character wasn’t as strong as Jax and Robb.

However, it was a good conclusion to the series with addictive writing and lots of action and emotion. I just wanted more from Anna’s story line!

Goodreads Summary:

Seventeen-year-old Ana is a scoundrel by nurture and an outlaw by nature. Found as a child drifting through space with a sentient android called D09, Ana was saved by a fearsome space captain and the grizzled crew she now calls family. But D09—one of the last remaining illegal Metals—has been glitching, and Ana will stop at nothing to find a way to fix him.

Ana’s desperate effort to save D09 leads her on a quest to steal the coordinates to a lost ship that could offer all the answers. But at the last moment, a spoiled Ironblood boy beats Ana to her prize. He has his own reasons for taking the coordinates, and he doesn’t care what he’ll sacrifice to keep them.

When everything goes wrong, she and the Ironblood end up as fugitives on the run. Now their entire kingdom is after them—and the coordinates—and not everyone wants them captured alive.

What they find in a lost corner of the universe will change all their lives—and unearth dangerous secrets. But when a darkness from Ana’s past returns, she must face an impossible choice: does she protect a kingdom that wants her dead or save the Metal boy she loves?

My Review:

I had been putting this one off to read for a while. This, was a big mistake! First, the whole Anastasia retelling thing was pretty awesome. Also, if you liked Cinder, I’m pretty sure you’d like this! If you didn’t like Cinder, I’d still read it!

There are four main characters, and I loved Di, Jax, and Robb! I didn’t connect with Ana as much as I did with the others, but it didn’t take away from the story one bit! Plus, the romance between both couples was awesome! The friendship and family bond was just on point, too!

There’s plenty of spacey action, me gripping my heart at times, and a lot of fun stuff happening! The book does end on a huge cliffhanger. And I’m patiently tapping my fingers together as I wait for a release date! Also, anything written by Poston is going to be an auto buy from me!

Review: Fragile Chaos

Goodreads Summary:

A god of war seeking restoration. An unwilling sacrificial bride. Betrayal that could destroy them both.

Every fiber of my being is woven from the rage of mortals.

Theodric, the young God of War, has a talent for inciting conflict and bloodshed. After being stripped of his powers by his older brother, King of Gods, he sets out to instigate a mortal war to prove himself worthy of being restored to power.

I loved Kisk once; it was my home… But that was before. This is now.

Sixteen-year-old Cassia, like many in the modern era, believes gods and goddesses to be just a myth. Enemy to her country and an orphan of the war, she has no time for fairy tales. That’s until religious zealots from Theo’s sect offer her up as a sacrifice.

Can Cassia and Theo end the mortal war and return balance to the earth and heavens? Or, will their game of fate lead down a path of destruction, betrayal, and romance neither of them saw coming?

My Review:

First, I wanted to read this because of the whole mythological aspect. It had me at War God! I also loved the prequel short story!

Theo and Cassia, what can I say? I loved them! Theo was a complex character that slowly built his way into my heart while Cassia ripped it out from the beginning with her incredible strength. Their chemistry was great!

I could feel each and every emotion with Cassia when she became a sacrifice. From there I followed an intriguing story that I wasn’t able to put down. The book swept me in from the beginning with the writing and world building and didn’t let go until the very last page!

March Reads 2018

What I’m reading this month

The Shatter Me series is like my favorite series ever, so I’m pretty scared to read the fourth book, because I thought the third book had ended so well. So hopefully these next three are just as amazing!
