Goodreads Summary:

Magnus from Falling Kingdoms and Maddox from A Book of Spirits and Thieves are on an epic quest through time in this series-bridging novella.

In a garden of ancient ruins on the cliffs of Limeros, Prince Magnus comes face-to-face with a witch. The old woman incapacitates him with a spell, presses a single object into his hand—an obsidian blade—and tells him to bring it to a woman named Samara before the sun sets and his portal home closes forever.

A flash of dark magic transports Magnus back in time to a Mytica he’s only heard about in storybooks. Lost in this foreign land, Magnus sets out to find Samara. But a chance encounter with the rumored Witch Boy derails his journey. Magnus saves Maddox from a beating, but the cruel Livius is now on their tail. The sun is starting to set. Time is running out. Both boys must fight for their lives.

Follow legendary bad boy Magnus and the enigmatic Maddox as their worlds collide in this high-stakes adventure.

My Review:

I normally do not purchase novellas unless I love the book series, and I love both the Falling Kingdom series and A Book of Spirits and Thieves series. Although, Falling Kingdoms is better in my opinion.

This short novella combines the two and takes Magnus into the past where he runs into Maddox. This novella had me at Prince Magnus. His point of view never fails me, and it didn’t here. Maddox is still my sweet little baby, and there is even a snippet of Cleo from Falling Kingdoms.

The novella wasn’t long, but the bond that Magnus and Maddox shared had me rooting for their friendship. There was action, and I wanted to punch Livius in the face just like I wanted to in A Book of Spirits and Thieves. Anyone who is a fan of Falling Kingdoms and A Book of Spirits and Thieves does not want to miss this.

Goodreads Summary:

An epic clash between gods and mortals threatens to tear Mytica apart . . . and prove that not even the purest of love stands a chance against the strongest of magic.

MAGNUS and CLEO are forced to test the strength of their love when Gaius returns to Mytica claiming he’s no longer the King of Blood but a changed man seeking redemption.

LUCIA, pregnant with the child of a Watcher, has escaped the clutches of the unhinged fire god. Her powers are dwindling as she goes forth to fulfill a prophecy that will keep her baby safe . . . but could mean her demise.

JONAS treks back to Mytica with a plan to overtake Amara, but fate takes hold when he runs into the beautiful Princess Lucia and joins her on her perilous journey.

AMARA has taken the Mytican throne, but with no way to unleash the water magic trapped within her stolen crystal, she’ll never be able to seize glory and get sweet revenge.

And what kind of darkness will descend–and who will be safe–after Prince Ashur reveals the dangerous price he paid to cheat death?

My Review:

This book did not let me down! First off, Magnus stole the show here like he always does. I loved every single one of his chapters, and every comment that comes out of his mouth is pure entertainment.

Amara has been annoying this whole series but especially in this book. Nic is another character that I just can’t stand for some reason. He always seems to get in the way! There were lovely moments between Magnus and Cleo but also drama! King Gaius has some weird stuff going on. Lucia has an abnormally fast growing baby!!!

I actually started to really like Lucia in this book, and I want desperately to have a Lucia and Jonas romance come about. Felix is one of my favorite character’s too, but he took more of a backseat in this one.

A lot of crap hits the fan in this book, and it got really interesting especially towards the end. I am going to have to wait another year for this????? A whole year!!! I just can’tttttttttt!

Crystal Storm was filled with action and magic and all kinds of interesting twists that had me clenching this book in my hands! This is one of the most addicting series that I have ever read.

Review: Crimson Dagger

Title: Crimson Dagger

Goodreads Summary:

In this prequel short story, set before the events of Falling Kingdoms book 1, Prince Magnus is awoken by an unexpected visitor—in his bed. One look into her fierce, hateful eyes, and Magnus knows exactly who it is: Kara Stolo.

Ten years ago, as a scared little boy, he told a lie that irreparably changed Kara’s life. As a result, her father was wrongfully imprisoned, chained in the dark dungeon underneath the palace, where he was to remain until his death. Now, Kara is back to avenge her father’s punishment, and there’s more. Kara believes he’s still alive, and she needs Magnus to help free him . . . or else.

My Review:

This was a great short story for anyone that is a fan of the Falling Kingdoms series or of Magnus! I really liked the flashback part the most and being able to see seven year old Prince Magnus.

On his way to run away from his father and his kingdom Magnus meets a man who used to work for the king and his daughter, and they bring him back to his father who then takes away and imprisons the man while the daughter is left to suffer outside and most likely die from the cold. This occurs because Magnus was not brave enough to tell the truth, but he is so terrified of his father and for the way he has treated him that you can’t help but understand why a seven year old boy would lie about this.

Ten years later the girl named Kara is back and wants Magnus to help release her father who really was not executed and is still being held as a prisoner in the dungeon inside the castle walls.

I really liked Kara. We only see a little bit of her, and I hope to see more of her and her father hopefully in the series! What else can I say about Magnus except this story only makes me like him more!
