Blurred Lines: Book Blitz + Giveaway

Blurred Lines
The Suspenseful Collection 2
by Kim Knight and Didi Oviatt
Genre: Romantic Suspense, Crime Fiction

For Mature Readers Only:

As the second installment of suspenseful short stories by two suspense authors, from diverse backgrounds, Blurred Lines offers a thrill ride with nine stories in genres across the board. From opposite sides of the Atlantic these stories have been created. One author started the tale and the other ended it. No discussion, no pre-planning, but yet their stories are seamless. With the use of writing prompts Kim and Didi have created tales that will tug at your heart strings, drop your jaws, and leave you clinging to the edge of your seat. The continuation of this suspenseful anthology is just as fast paced and engaging as the first set of tales that covers multiple genres. From gory horror, romance, crime fiction, family drama, and fantasy, there is a story for everyone!

Crime Fiction, Psychological: “I’m Back Bitches, Now Panic!”

Lynn McCarmick has spent six years behind bars for a crime she didn’t commit, although she’s a far cry from an innocent woman. Her once loyal team of con artists set her up for a robbery that landed her a long term home in a Scottish prison. With the help of conjugal visits from Hamish, who keeps tabs on the group who framed her, she’s able to track them and keep a constant eye on their whereabouts. After an early release for good behavior, Lynn is finally able to let the bad bitch inside of her roam free. She goes after the team with the intentions on a much anticipated revenge for her incarceration.

Contemporary Romance: Heart of Gold

In this star crossed, light hearted tale, two people with the purest of hearts, each long to find a mate who is giving, honest and real. Sandy has been putting herself out there for what she feels is too long, yet she’s only found shallow disconnected interactions. That is until she witnesses an act of kindness from a complete stranger, one that she’s yet to discover has already intertwined his way into her near future.

Psychological Thriller, Slasher Romance, Erotica: Chainsaw Ridge

Alice is one of a kind, and was raised by a nasty man with killer habits. Growing up, Alice was forced to care for her daddy’s pigs, on a farm that he used the animals for the most disgusting things, including the devouring of his victims’ bodies. After an accident rendered the awful man disabled, and Alice had to dispose of his latest victim for him, everything changed. Eventually Alice rid herself of her Daddy and found a man to spend her life with. However, Alice’s tale doesn’t end there! Due to popular demand this story was extended! Alice fell into a depression after learning that her husband was having an affair. She decided to raise pigs of her own, following suit of her father and with the ultimate twist, this gory tale takes Alice and her husband on one hell of a bloody adventure.

But, not everything is as it seems, and as the killing’s details unravel, the detective piece together outside connections that are weaved into the Wang ties in a very delicate way. Is this merely a case of someone being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or is there more to the murder than meets the eye?

When she’s mentally the witness to a murder that’s yet to be solved, she’s forced into action in an altercation with the killer.

Fantasy: Witchful Thinking

Growing up in foster care was an intentional way for her to find her own path in using her magic as she’s intended to be a tool for Fate’s use. Once grown, she’s introduced to the intensity of her gifts, and is thrown into a personal journey involving much higher powers than merely Fate. Gretchen and her mother have a certain potential that dive deeper than either of them ever dreamed.

Review: Blood Ties, Love Binds

Title: Blood Ties, Love Binds

Author: Alexa Whitewolf

Date of Publication: September 5th, 2018

Goodreads Summary:

Cassandra DiCavalier thinks she has her life sorted out, when Damon Voight storms back in. Sexy and overprotective, yet with a soft side, this ex-military guy is every girl’s fantasy.

She already had the fantasy – ten years ago – and is not about to fall into the same trap. But despite her best efforts to keep the charming soldier at bay, she seems to be meeting him time and time again.

Cassandra is one tough cookie, and Damon is as stubborn as they come. Will they be able to find their love once again?

My Review:

This is the first book I’ve read by Alexa where no magic was involved, and I love me some of that, but this one had a magic all its own! Cassandra and Damon were freaking awesome and I always love past loves reuniting! There was great banter and swoon between the leads! Also lets not forget the suspense! And I couldn’t put this one down!

Cassandra was a great MC and not annoying! As you know, I get annoyed easily with female MCs but not here! All I can say about Damon is Alexa knows how to write guy characters! Can I just add that Renzo was an excellent side character as well!

I’d actually like to read more contemporary sort of books from the author! Blood Ties was well written and the characters were relatable!! Plus, there was also some pretty emotional spots! Loved it!

Blood Ties, Love Binds

A standalone romance suspense

First love never dies… And neither does revenge.

Cassandra

Of all the things that could go wrong, he had to come back! Ten years ago he leaves me with a broken heart, and now he’s acting like he cares. And let’s not forget how infuriatingly macho he’s become. Damon may think he can boss me around, but he’s got another thing coming. I’m no longer the starry-eyed girl he knew.

Damon

Leaving her was the worst decision I’ve ever made, but I thought it was for the best. I was listening to her father, after all. And now I’m back because of him – and his shady side-dealings. Cassandra thinks she’s got it all figured out, but she doesn’t even know the half of it. With my connections, I know I can keep her safe. If only she’d stop trying to kung fu my ass, maybe we’d get somewhere.

They say opposites attract, but these two will have sparks flying with every page. Hop on a thrilling tale of love, hate, and everything in between as Damon tries to save Cassandra from a heritage that could cost her life – and his.

Excerpt:

Damon watched in slight satisfaction as realization dawned on Cass. Playing the dashing stranger had its appeal, but nothing compared to the recognition drifting in her eyes, even as her lips parted in surprise.

His delight turned to growing frustration when it seemed like she would bolt any minute. He understood the knee-jerk reaction, especially considering their history, but before he could speak Cassandra drew her hand back and slapped him.

Damon stood still for a moment, processing the hit. Her hazel eyes sparked outrage, and a delightful flush stained her cheeks. He forced himself to look past that. “What was that for?”
It was the wrong question to ask, judging by the way she clenched her jaw. When she spoke, Cassandra’s voice was tight with reined-in emotion. “You dare ask me that, after ten years? Ten freaking years!”
“Cassie, I –” Damon tried to take a step closer, but Cassandra moved back, holding her palms up.
(…)
Viktor will pay for this, one way or another.

Damon met Cassandra’s gaze once more, and held it. Something in her expression shifted, but she wasn’t running away. Yet. He pounced on the chance while he still could. “That’s not the full story, actually it’s not even a story. I left, yes, but not for the reasons you think.”
“Sure you did.” Cassandra’s eyes shifted from his, avoiding the truth.
Before she could stop him, Damon reached for her chin and forced her to look him at him. “You used to be able to tell when I was lying. Tell me, am I now?”
Flashes of the girl he’d known crossed her expression, though Cassandra did a good job trying to hide it. He could still see the girl he’d helped out with homework, the tougher yet vulnerable side of her he’d fallen in love with…
How can she think I’d leave her? It stung to think that all she recalled of him was his ambitious streak.
It took Damon a second to realize Cassandra had frozen at his touch, and the look in her eyes had changed. When he tuned in to the change in her, he picked up on her quicker breathing, nostrils flaring as if inhaling his scent. Up close, he could now smell the vanilla perfume emanating from her skin, and he wanted nothing more than to sample her lips.
Cassandra’s eyes widened, the anger set aside by the pure chemical reaction they had to one another. The blazing glare, so eager to put him in his place, dimmed now to a sense of assessment.
Damon had been used to girls throwing themselves at him in the military, but he’d never been interested in more than a night. Only one woman had occupied his thoughts, and she was now so close every instinct in him screamed to make her his.
My little spitfire.

Review: Till Death

Title: Till Death

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Date of Publication: February 28th, 2017

till

In New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s gripping new novel, a young woman comes home to reclaim her life—even as a murderer plots to end it. . .

It’s been ten years since Sasha Keaton left her West Virginia hometown . . . since she escaped the twisted serial killer known as the Groom. Returning to help run her family inn means being whole again, except for one missing piece. The piece that falls into place when Sasha’s threatened—and FBI agent Cole Landis vows to protect her the way he couldn’t a decade ago.

First one woman disappears; then another, and all the while, disturbing calling cards are left for the sole survivor of the Groom’s reign of terror. Cole’s never forgiven himself for not being there when Sasha was taken, but he intends to make up for it now . . . because under the quirky sexiness Cole first fell for is a steely strength that only makes him love Sasha more.

But someone is watching. Waiting. And Sasha’s first mistake could be her last.

My Review:

I tend to stay away from suspense novels because I am disappointed most of the time, but since it was Jennifer Armentrout, I knew I had to read it! I liked the whole idea of the Groom, and how he would creepily kidnap women and then leave their bodies behind in a wedding gown.

As with any of Jen’s books, there is plenty of romance, and the romance is excellent. Cole is an awesome guy. Sometimes in the beginning Sasha did get on my nerves, but after all she had been through I can understand why she would be the way she is.

Loved the suspense, and there is plenty of creepiness with weird things getting left behind for Sasha. I did guessed a lot of the stuff right, but there were still a few parts that surprised me. Definitely a good read if you like serial killers with romance!

Honor by: Jay Crownover – Excerpt + Giveaway

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Jay Crownover returns with her most complicated hero yet, in the first book in the romantic suspense series The Breaking Point.

honor-cover

Don’t be fooled.

Don’t make excuses for me.

I am not a good man.

I’ve seen things no one should, done things no one should talk about. Honor and conscience have no place in my life. But I’ve fought and I’ve survived. I’ve had to.

The first time I saw her dancing on that seedy stage in that second rate club, I felt my heart pulse for the first time. Keelyn Foster was too young, too vibrant for this place, and I knew in an instant that I would make her mine. But first I had to climb my way to the top. I had to have something more to offer her.

I’m here now, money is no object and I have no equal. Except for her. She’s disappeared. But don’t worry, I will find her and claim her. She will be mine.

Like I said, don’t be fooled. I am not the devil in disguise… I’m the one standing front and center.

Excerpt:

KEELYN

In my head I heard him as clear as if he had been in the bed next to me…”I have a business proposition for you, Key.”

His voice, with its faintest hint of an accent as he looked at me with those candy-colored eyes, gave nothing away. Of course, when he offered me something other than sex and physical temptation, it was a chance to get into bed with him in a different way…a way that would probably be just as dirty and complicated as the traditional way. Only Nassir would take something people did anyway and charge for it. He was already making money from the strip club and from the working girls he looked out for, so why wouldn’t he take that a step further and make money off of people chasing a chance to indulge in their kinky vices. It simply made good business sense.

I scrolled back up to the Ns in my contact list and stared at his name before pulling it up. It took another ten minutes before I could get my hands to stop shaking enough to type out a text message. I couldn’t call him. The sound of his voice after what had happened with the guy from the bar tonight would be too much. I would be in my little Honda Civic racing back to the Point and throwing myself at him like a lunatic. I needed to keep the upper hand with him if I was going to go home, if I was going to even consider tying myself to him in any way.

I’m coming home, asshole.

I sent the message off and stared at the phone, expecting an immediate response. Expecting a “good” or an “about time.” I got nothing. Zero. Zilch. The screen stared back at me, taunting me in silence for hours. When I couldn’t stop hitting the message button to see if anything was there, and as dawn started to cross the sky, I finally gave in to temptation then and threw the thing across the room.

There had been good men and bad men in my past. There had been men I wanted to stay longer than they did and ones I couldn’t get rid of fast enough, but in the background there was always Nassir…always. I couldn’t escape his pull and not even time and distance had done anything to stop the irresistible attraction I felt toward him. I told Reeve he couldn’t be the center of my world, but the reality was that he had been this from the get-go, and all I was doing was orbiting around him. Forever circling and trying to get as close as I could without succumbing to his gravitational pull and colliding.

I fell asleep after the sun was in the sky and was so tired and stressed out from the night before that I slept through my alarm, missing my shift at the diner. I guess it was a good thing I was going back to the Point. I didn’t think my ego could handle getting fired from a waitressing job I never really wanted in the first place.

I shoved the covers off and went to retrieve my phone from where it had landed. The battery was almost dead, but there was enough life left in it for me to see Nassir never texted me back. I almost threw it again but stopped when I noticed I had an e-mail. I never used the app on my phone. I had no need for an e-mail address and didn’t want anything that was easily tracked, but I did like to shop on Amazon, so there was no getting around having one. When I clicked to open it, my heart started to race and I got a little light-headed. I was so surprised, mostly that I was surprised, that I sat down heavily in the center of the floor and just stared dumbly at the first-class ticket with my name on it for a flight that was scheduled to leave tomorrow morning.
