Last to Love (Moonlight Rogues #4)

Expected Publication Date: December 31st, 2019

Genre: Paranormal/ Shapeshifter Romance

He’s the last one standing… So they sent the best one to break him.

Lucas

Love is for fools. I left all that wuss shit behind, and no fairy-like, smiling godmother will change my mind. I’ve got enough on my mind with a beta pushing my buttons and a town to keep safe. Never mind these urges inside me surfacing again, when I thought I’d buried them for good.

My wolves are falling in amore like bowling pins, and no amount of reasoning will make them stop. Now the third one’s gone over the moon, and they all expect me to be the last to love.

Only, they’ve got another thing coming. ‘Cause the only way I’m falling in love? Is over my dead body.

Monica

One more job, they said. One tiny thing I have to do, to bring the prodigal son back home in the warm arms of his beloved family. They said it would be easy. They gave me all the tools. But the minute I’m facing Lucas, I know all those plans have just failed. Burned, thrown out the window, type of failed. And I fully expect he’ll throw me out on my ass. So why is it he’s suddenly more interested in getting me in bed, rather than exiled? And what happens when I fall for it, but it’s too late to stop the events I’ve set into motion?

*Book IV in a paranormal shifter series filled with werewolves of all kinds, feisty females who stand up to them, and enough suspense to make it interesting. Can be read as a standalone for the romance, but for a better experience it’s suggested you read the full series first.*

Damn it, but they could have warned me what to expect!

Luciano Conti is nothing like I pictured. He’s gorgeous, and fine as hell, sure. But he’s also cold, and unsettling. And in control. I didn’t miss the way his wolf responded, that flash of interest quickly squashed as soon as he realized who I am – nor did I miss the pack outside of here. Clearly, I’ve walked in the middle of a warzone.

The question is, how much more chaos can I cause before Luciano – or Lucas, as he calls himself now – throws me out of here? I bite my lower lip, noticing his gaze drop to it. My instructions were clear. Ruin the life he built here, and force him to come back home. If I do, I’d be free, and Alessandro Conti would ensure it.

Only problem is, as I’m standing opposite Luciano, it takes all my will to ignore the hum of electricity between us. I’ve always been the one in control – always. And yet his dark gaze does something to my insides that makes me feel almost…shy.

Basta! Don’t be a fool.

In an effort to distract myself, I look around. “You’ve done well for yourself, Luciano. Your parents will be proud.”

A noise escapes him, and I meet his unnerving gaze just in time to catch a glimpse of amusement. Then he schools his expression once more. I’ve known men who are good at that, but he makes it into an art. He is a piece of art.

Focus…

“What was so funny?” He clearly doesn’t like my question. But it’s his words that unsettle me more.

“What’s funny, cara, is you keep mentioning parents as if I have two of them. My mother died years ago. Matter of fact, she committed suicide after my brother died in a failed deal – all thanks to my father. But surely Alessandro Conti told you all this, before sending you into the wolf’s den?”

His grin is nothing short of predatory. And that dangerous glint in his onyx eyes causes a low tremor to start in me.

Merda! I’ve been had, that’s for sure. Only question is, how the heck do I get out of this now?

Will be available on Amazon December 31st!

Alexa has been a lifelong writer and first began creating other worlds and characters at the ripe age of 12. Growing up in the Transylvania region surrounded by epic mountains and a never ending stream of legends and stories was bound to create an overactive imagination. This shines through Ms. Whitewolf’s writing by creating worlds filled with unique folklore, life wisdom and plenty of furry creatures.

Her series focus on strong heroines, kind yet sexy men, fights of good and evil and the never-ending learning curve of humanity’s strong – and weak – points. Romanian folklore is intertwined with her writing, more notably in her shifter romance series, the Moonlight Rogues. Her other series draw on world mythology, such as the Avalon myth and Arthurian legend (the Avalon Chronicles) and Ancient Egypt (The Sage’s Legacy).

Review: Second to Surrender

Title: Second to Surrender

Author: Alexa Whitewolf

Date of Publication: December 21st, 2019

Goodreads Summary:

Tristan

I swore I was done with love, after my last failed relationship. Being a soldier means making the tough decisions, all for the good of the pack. So when a little miss full of attitude waltzes in, dragging a shitload of trouble with her, I want nothing more than to make that tough decision and kick her the hell out. But then she turns those big, helpless eyes on me, and my wolf roars otherwise. Shit-of-fuck but now I’m screwed…. And her family seriously has a screw loose. To make it worse? We have history.

Daniela

You’d think running away from a psycho family would swear me off relationships for good. Guess what? So did I. In fact, I specifically searched Tristan out because he’s the type I’d never be with. Too much of everything, if you get my gist – attitude included. So why is it when he starts acting all protector, I can’t help but swoon? His dark secrets don’t scare me as much as this sudden tornado within me. This was not in the plans… And I might just have to make a run for it. But will he let me?

My Review:

I absolutely loved the first book, First to Fall, so I was super excited to get into Tristan’s head for this round! And I was not disappointed! My boy has a lot going on in that little brain of his!

Let me say I absolutely fell in love with Dani! She was a great MC who stood her ground and plus, yeah, she has a wolf, too! The chemistry between Tristan and Dani was so good! On fire!

But don’t worry, you get action, other cool fantasy characters, and loads of fun, too. I just love the world that Whitewolf has created here. I’m seriously intrigued to see the next wolf’s book!!

Review: The She-Wolf of Kanta

Title: The She-Wolf of Kanta

Author: Marlena Frank

Date of Publication: April 17th, 2018

Goodreads Summary:

“A pair of yellow eyes caught the moonlight and locked onto hers.”

Mercy has always dreamed of becoming a werewolf trapper like her father. In Kanta, one must learn how to survive one way or another. A dark-skinned, blue-eyed young beauty, Mercy understands that she brings out the beast in monsters and men. When a routine werewolf delivery turns into a vicious assault from a pair of human traffickers, Mercy’s life changes forever. Somehow she must endure in a dangerous city where women and werewolves are hunted.

My Review:

Oh, I really liked this one! I loved the werewolf concept—it felt original and unique and all around cool!

As characters go, Mercy was a strong and fierce thirteen-year-old girl. I mean, seriously, she was one tough cookie with extra chocolate chips! She was smart, quick thinking, and did what needed to be done.

This was a quick read with great writing that felt more developed than some of the six hundred page books I have read. It also had The Walking Dead type vibe of a setting, minus the whole zombie thing!

How does this book sound to you?

The Physic by: E. Burden + Interview

The Physic

Summary:

Werewolves were thought to be hunted to extinction. Struggling on the edge of human life, a few have survived. When a godhead virus arrives to build his new empire, werewolves are the only things standing between his destructive desires and human civilization. The novel follows the stories of Taisho, the daughter of a forbidden match between a werewolf and a human, and Louise, a young woman who served as the host for the sentient virus. Set in a time and place where safety no longer exists and suffering is commonplace, The Physic is a story about the importance of selflessness and love in the face of extreme stress, prejudice, and othering.

Interview:

  • What made you decide you wanted to be a writer?

I didn’t want to be a writer. This is just one of the very, very few things I can do well and functionally, it’s a passion I didn’t chose I guess. I remember being so upset that I cried when I took the career aptitude test, and my ideal one was novelist. I came from a poor family and all I could think was that I was wearing a “starving artist” sign on my back. I feel differently now, and grateful for everything I have, but back then it was overwhelming.

  • Did you know you always wanted to write?

I wrote my first novel in 8th grade. It was trash and I didn’t save it, but I was writing all the time as a young girl. I think, in all honestly, I do it to survive and make sense of the world-a lot like art.

  • What kind of books do you write?

Horror usually, but always speculative fiction. Most of my stuff, even the children’s book I’m putting together hopefully this summer, is like a dark epic. I love the mythology of the hero, I think it’s really tested in works of horror or anything that has high stakes and low odds of success.

  • What are your top 3 favorite books?

My favorite book is still Dune by Frank Herbert. This great combination of science fiction and social science and ecology that nothing has ever topped for me. The second would have to be Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book, and the third is Peony in Love by Lisa See.

  • Do you have any other hobbies besides writing?

I think mothering takes up most of my hobby time, but art and design are my other passions. I illustrated the covers and the entirety of my new children’s book, and it is a lot of fun.

  • Do you have any advice for people that are wanting to write?

For people wanting to write, I would say, if you are young-find a niche in the writing industry (technical writing, etc.…) that allows you to study your craft early and pay your bills. I wish I had. I wish someone would have told me this is what you are good at, go this way. People my age, I’d just say keep a schedule. Keep a schedule every day when you have free time, and get at least a paragraph down per day, but one to three pages is preferable. It doesn’t even have to always be the same project; you just keep going. It takes roughly ten thousand hours of practice to become really good at something-even if you don’t keep what you write, you are logging those hours of practice and that matters.

  • Do you plot out when you write?

I always write an outline. I don’t always follow it, but it gives me a general feel and direction-I can take scenic routes and detours, or throw away the imaginary map, but the initial plan is important to me in both long and short works of fiction.
